What is the Reason behind Wagyu' Extreme Marbling?

Wagyu beef is known internationally for its great flavor and texture. Since Wagyu just melts in the mouth, it retains the taste buds reeling. The fat of the beef is generally considered harmful and therefore doctors usually advise people to avoid it altogether or to contain it occasionally in order to keep the actual cholesterol levels normal. However, Wagyu is different from other beef breeds since it is a healthy diet.

The marbled body fat, which is 'an intra-muscular deposit of energy in a lace-like lattice' containing higher quantity of monounsaturated fatty acids, is exactly what that makes Wagyu a healthy diet. It is this textured fat inside its muscle which makes it healthy, tender, as well as delicious. Therefore the greater the degree of marbled body fat, the tastier, the softer and healthier the beef could be.

Unlike other beef breeds, Wagyu has extremely high degree of marbled fat and the reason for this can be attributed to the way the Wagyu livestock are reared in Asia. The Japanese breeders are extremely particular about the food given to the livestock, which is different for various stages. The cattle are put on low-calorie diet plan and when they get to the fattening period, it is replaced by a high calorie diet. It has been heard that during summer when the temperature result in the loss of appetite the Japanese breeders feed the cattle along with beer to induce their appetite.

The actual fattening period of the cattle are from Ten months to 28 months approximately. During this time period, the cattle are given maximum relaxation. The actual cattle are not permitted to move around much. This lack of exercise helps in the formation of pebble fat. Moreover, japan breeders also massage these cattle regularly in order to distribute body fat evenly.

The livestock reared in such a way would have high degree of intra-muscular fat in other words marbling. This large amount of marbling makes it a good low-cholesterol diet, that has been proved through studies and studies. According to Dr. Tim Crowe, diet professional and lecturer, Deakin University, "..the actual profile of marbled WAGYU beef is more good for human health. It can be described as a healthier type of meat.Inch
